8 Commercial Panel RV Roof Solar Rack (4,800W) 30’1″ to 33’10”

The Boondockers RV Solar rack is the most affordable, most DIY friendly,  and most power-producing RV and trailer solar rack on the market.

This RV and trailer solar rack is specifically designed around standard-sized commercial solar panels. Typically, they are between 540 and 610 watts. Not all solar panels that are within this wattage range have the same dimensions. If your solar panels are not 90″ x 45″, please contact us to determine how many solar panels will fit on your RV or trailer roof.

This commercial-sized panel solar roof rack is designed to have the length of the solar panels perpendicular to the length of the roof. Most RVs are at least 90 inches wide, and commercial solar panels are typically 90 inches tall.

The residential-sized solar panels work best when the long side of the panel is parallel to the length of the roof. Two panels wide fit most RV and trailer roofs at a width of 90 inches. If your RV is wider than 90 inches, it’s possible to leave a gap between the midline of the panels down the length of the roof. If the gap is wide enough, then it can be used as a walkway to access the roof. Regardless of using the commercial or residential sized racking setup, it is common to have a large enough gap under the solar panels that you can still access the entire roof, under the solar panels.

It is highly recommended that the front edge of the solar panels be set back behind the front leading edge of the RV or trailer roof. This optimizes wind resistance to a minimum. As an example, if your roof can fit 8 commercial solar panels with 3 feet of extra space, we recommend leaving all or most of that space on the front leading edge to reduce uplift airflow under the panels.
